Obituary Mrs. Nels Slaikeu.

The death of Caroline Middleton Slaikeu, wife of Nels Slaikeu, occurred Thursday night, after the deceased had passed thru a long siege of sickness and suffering. She had been a patient sufferer from a complication of diseases for a long time. She recently underwent an operation at the hospital which relieved her of a great amount of the suffering.

She died at her home at Evergreen with the members of her family at the bedside. Mrs. Slaikeu was born in Ohio, but came to Troy township with her parents when she was a young girl in the year 1854 [1855] and has lived in Wright county continuously since that time.

She was married here to Nels Slaikeu. Six children were born to them, one dying in infancy. Her living children are: Mrs. Fred Rasmussen and Mrs. Will Carse of this place, Geo. and Lionel Slaikeu of Mason City and Alva Slaikeu of Harris. All of them are married.

Other relatives who mourn her death are two brothers living in Eagle Grove, a sister at Des Moines and an aged mother who has been living with Mr. and Mrs. Slaikeu.

Mrs. Slaikeu was converted when only ten years of age and united with the M. E. church, of which she was a faithful member to the time of her death. Her christian influence over her family and friends will be a living monument to her memory.

Short funeral services were held at the home at noon and then the remains were taken to Goldfield where the last sad rites were held at the Methodist church there. Rev. Artman had charge of the services and interment was made in the cemetery at that place.
