November 8, 1871 --- July 18, 1958

Mrs. Adam Middleton, 86, a former Eagle Grove resident, died Friday at Salem, Iowa, where she had made her home the past several years with her daughter Helen. Mrs. Middleton had been in failing health for about five years.

She is survived by one son, Talford Middleton of Marshalltown, two daughters Mrs. Don Savage and Miss Helen Middleton of Salem.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Clarence Tompkins of Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, a former pastor of the Eagle Grove Methodist church. Burial was in Troy cemetery.

Mrs Middleton was along time resident of the Troy community moving there in June of 1901 following her marriage to Adam Middleton.

Mr. Middleton died in 1926, and she continued to operate the farm until 1941 when she moved to Eagle Grove. The next year she moved to Salem to make her home where her daughters resided. Later she spent some time in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan and lived in Washington, Iowa for about 12 years, before again returning to Salem where she and Helen made their home. She had been in failing health for five years.

Mrs. Middleton had been a director of the American Farmers Insurance Co. since it was started in 1926 by her husband, and Guy L. Roberts.

In addition to her children she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, several nieces and nephews.
