Mary Evelyn Lovrien was born November 6, 1907, in Bradgate, Iowa, to James and Mattie Imus Lovrien. She was educated in the Bradgate and Eagle Grove Schools, graduating from Eagle Grove High School. On March 3, 1928, she was united in marriage to Roger Middleton. They were the first couple married in the new United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. They resided in Eagle Grove, farming for several years, mostly in Troy Township. She moved to town in 1975 and then entered Rotary Ann in 1994 due to illness. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Untied Methodist Women, the Naomi Circle, and the Troy Culture Club.

Mary E. Middleton died Monday, April 6, 1998, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 90.

Survivors include one son, Harold Middleton, and wife, Mary, Clarion; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger, on March 28, 1969; three brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 9, 1998, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend William E. Ballard officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
