April 22, 1921 --- June 7, 1980

Funeral services were held June 10, 1980 for Richard Middleton at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, Iowa. Rev. Robert Hicks officiated at the services.

The organist was Mrs. Ronald Courson and soloist was Maxine McVey.

Honorary casket bearers were Nick Pasquariello, Hank Steenblock, Geno Nelson, Leo Smith, Lloyd Cunningham, Francis Ainger. Active casket bearers were Coonie Smith, Dale Bemrich, Bud Barkema, Ed Stoffer, Don Friesleben, Ralph Turner.

Internment was in the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond, Iowa with Quesenberry Funeral Home in charge.

Richard was born April 22, 1921 at Eagle Grove to Guy J. and Heattie Warnes Middleton. He was baptized in the United Methodist Church of Clarion. He attended school at Clarion and graduated in 1940. He then enlisted in the Army Air Force and became a trainer pilot, flying bomber planes during World War II.

On March 2, 1942 he was married to Alberta Thayer in Bethany, Mo. After military service Richard and Alberta moved to Clarion. He was employed with General Mills of Belmond, later Central Soya, until 1968. He then started selling Wynns Automotive Care Products. He later formed R. G. Middleton Distributing Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving in addition to his wife, Alberta, are three sons: Tom and Rosemary Middleton of Belmond; Ron and Cheryl Middleton of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Marc and Nancy Middleton of Belmond; four grandchildren; and three brothers; Frank and Jane Middleton of Clarion; Bob and Jo Ellen Middleton of Riverside, Calif.; and David and Helen Middleton of Wapato, Wash.
