Former resident dies
Former Black Hills resident, Fern Bertolero, died June 22 at a hospital in Coronado, Calif. Private memorial services were held in Coronado. She was born Nov 1, 1895 in Eagle Grove. Iowa and attended school at Harrisburg, S.D., and also the University of South Dakota where she received a Law Degree. On June 22, 1917 she was married to John Bertolero and the couple lived in Lead and Rapid City. Mrs. Bertolero was a part owner in the Black Hills Amusement Theater Company until she left to make her home in Coronado, Calif., in 1971. Surviving are a daughter. Mary Sanderman; two grandchildren. Susie Savage and Sally Burris, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wassum [Wasem] and her husband. A memorial has been established to the Coronado Hospital and may be sent to Mrs. Fred Sanderman, 22 The Point, Coronado, Calif.
