Vera Boyd, 87, Pierre, [South Dakota] died Wednesday in Mary House Nursing Home, Pierre. Vera Range was born Dec. 27, 1897, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. After high school, she was employed with Ham & Dampman in Clarion, Iowa. She moved to Kimball and taught school for two years. She married Perle Bruce "Pete" Boyd Oct. 2, 1919, in Chamberlain. They moved to a ranch 16 miles north of Murdo where they ranched and farmed for 33 years. In 1952, they moved to Pierre. Survivors include two sons: Clifford, Pierre; and James, Hot Springs; three daughters: Dorif Kirby, Columbus, Neb.; Millecent Iverson, Sioux Falls; and Ruth DeShurly, Newburg, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church, Pierre. Burial will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Murdo Cemetery. Visiting will be from noon to 5 p.m. today, and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in Hofmeister Funeral Chapel, Pierre. Prayers will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel.
