Gladys Fay Blankenship of Olathe died of natural causes Saturday in Carla's Retreat. She was 85. She worked as a file clerk for the city of Delta, and was a resident of Olathe since 1910.

She was born June 28, 1908, to Thomas and Mary Elmore Blankenship in Wright County, Iowa, and spent her childhood in Olathe. She attended Ross Business College in Grand Junction for two years. Miss Blankenship, a member of the Church of God in Delta, belonged to the American Rose Society, Olathe Women's Club, the Federated Women's Club in Delta, the National and Colorado Federations of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. She enjoyed gardening, especially roses, raising peacocks and pheasants.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Clement and Dorothy Blankenship of Olathe; a sister, Alice May Blankenship of Olathe; and a niece, Cheri Blankenship Tobin of Colorado Springs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Crippin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Olathe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Carla's Retreat, 423 W. Highway 348, Olathe 81425; or to the American Cancer Society, in care of Lucille Masden, 715 N, Fourth St., Montrose.
