JOHN T. YON LAID TO REST LAST SATURDAY

Passed Away at His Home in This City Early Thursday Morning, September the 7th

John T. Yon, 81, died early last week Thursday morning. He had been seriously ill for about two weeks, a stroke causing his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. Clarence W. Tompkins in charge. Music at the service was furnished by Mrs. E. C. Johnson and Mrs. John Potgeter with Mrs. George DeForest, accompanist. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Yon was one of the solid, substantial citizens of this community. He was very successful in his farming and stock raising operations until he retired some 15 years ago.

He was honest, reliable, trustworthy, sound.

John Thomas Yon, youngest son of Peter and Julia Yon, was born at Anderson, S. C., August 11, 1865. During his earlier years he lived in that vicinity and in 1890 he came to El Paso, Ill., where he engaged in farming. In 1895 he was united in marriage with Emma Zlnser. Four children were born, Alpha Uhlenhopp of Shell Rock, Wyatt L. of Storm Lake, and J. Paul of Eagle Grove who survive him, and Beth who preceded him in death in 1922.

In 1907 the family moved from Illinois to this community where they have since resided.

He joined the Methodist church in 1894 and has been an active and faithful member.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, three children and nine grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
