Funeral services for Mrs. A. A. Young of Des Moines, formerly of this city, who died in Des Moines Thursday, were held Saturday afternoon at four o’clock at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

The deceased was the grandmother of James and Doris Martin of this city.

Hannah Sofia Anderson was born Oct. 24, 1864 in Sweden, and died July 2, 1942, at Des Moines. At the age of 19, she came to the United States and to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where in 1885 she met and married William Putzier, a merchant tailor of Eagle Grove. To this union were born eight children, three of whom have preceded her in death, Recka childhood, Theodore in 1929 and Mrs. Gertrude Martin in 1939.

In 1900, the family moved to Bancroft, where they resided until Mr. Putzier died in 1913, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. In 1915, she was united in marriage to A. A. Young, with whom she lived until his death in Des Moines in 1939. After his passing away, she made her home with her daughter, Charlotte Barrett, in Des Moines until her death, which followed an emergency operation. Until the past week of her life, she was very active and apparently in the best of health. During her lifetime, she was a member of the Methodist church, and in her earlier days, an active member of the Rebekah and Yeoman lodges.

She leaves to mourn their loss, the following children: Mrs. Flora H. Brown, Ross Putzier, and Charlotte Barrett, all of Des Moines, Ia.; Claude Putzier of Kansas City, Mo.; and William C. Putzier of Waterloo. Also the following grandchildren: James and Doris Martin of Eagle Grove; Charles Putzier of Waterloo; Delores and Harold Putzier, Gerald O. Brown, Gertrude Cross and James Barrett, all of Des Moines, and one great grandchild, Bonnie Cross of Des Moines.

Besides the above relatives, there are many friends in Bancroft, Eagle Grove and Des Moines.
