Zelpha Ellwood Thought to Have Been Victim of Ptomaine Poisoning
Funeral Last Sunday

Zelpha, the sixteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Ellwood, living on what is known as the Wasem farm west of Eagle Grove, died Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock after a very short illness.

Zelpha was born in Knox county, Indiana on February 21, 1913 and died on August 15, 1929, being 16 years, 6 months and 24 days of age at the time of her death. Her folks came to Iowa when Zelpha was about one year old and have lived in this state ever since living near Thompson for nine years, near Livermore for two years and for the past four years near Eagle Grove. She attended the Derscheid school and graduated from the eighth grade last spring and it was her intention to enter the Eagle Grove high school this fall.

She was baptized by Rev. Roberts of the Methodist church of Livermore about five years ago, and for the past few years has been a member of the Sunday School of the Eagle Grove Methodist church and was a member of Mrs. Will Allen's class. Besides her parents she leaves to mourn her early going, two sisters and three brothers, Leveta, Lois, Stoy, Marvel and Dallas. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death, all of them dying in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McCrady, an aunt and uncle, were very dear to Zelpha and she will be greatly missed by them as well as her own family.

The entire neighborhood sympathize with this family during this hour of their great loss. The services were in charge of W. E. Warnes and were held at the Methodist church at one o'clock Sunday afternoon and interment was made at the Rose hill [Forest Home] cemetery of Leland, Iowa.
