Stoy Elwood, 58, died Thursday morning here

Stoy Elwood, 58, of Humboldt, died Thursday morning at his home after a very lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Rev. Paul Otto will officiate. Survivors are his wife, the former Herma Moss, one son, John of Humboldt; one grandson; two brothers, Marvel Elwood of Eagle Grove; Dallas Elwood of Corwith, and two sisters, Mrs. Marion Morgan of Thompson and Mrs. Percy Elkin of Clarion.

Mr. Elwood was born in Indiana and came to Iowa at the age of three and was raised and educated in Eagle Grove. He married Herma Moss on January 4, 1935 at Eagle Grove. The couple farmed in the Eagle Grove area and came to Humboldt in 1950 where he was employed with the Edge Brothers in construction work. For the past 11 years, he has been employed by the City of Humboldt.
