December 20, 1962 ---- December 10, 2003

Joseph "Joe" McBurney, 40, of Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of East Moline, entered heaven as an angel on Dec. 10, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 13 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Grand Rapids, where he was a member.

Joe was born Dec. 20, 1962, in Clarion, Iowa, to Richard and Virginia McBurney. He married Lynn Koker June 21, 1986, in First Christian Church, Rapid City. Joe graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in chemical engineering and was employed by Solutia, Trenton, Mich. He was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

Joe's wife and children were the most precious things in his life, and seeing to their happiness was his goal. He loved to travel with them and show them how wonderful life is.

Survivors are his wife, Lynn, daughter, Chelsea, and son, Travis, all of Grand Rapids; parents, East Moline; brothers, Steven, Rochester, Minn., James, Metamora, Ill., and Peter and Philip, East Moline. He also leaves behind many friends and co-workers who loved him dearly.
