Donald R. Elston Sr., 74, of East Moline, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline. Services will be private. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

He was born May 17, 1927, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Ray and Beatrice Jaques Elston. He married Delores Whitehouse Aug. 29, 1953, in Rock Island. She died March 1, 2001. Mr. Elston served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a truck driver for Eagle Warehouse, Milan, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed working on cars.

Surviving are his daughters, Teresa McClaine, Port Byron, Gloria Burbridge, East Moline, and Patricia Sharpe, Pennsylvania; sons, Donald Jr., Silvis, and Tracey, East Moline; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Vernon and Gene, both of Clarion, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
