Funeral services were held Friday morning at nine o'clock from Sacred Heart church for Lawrence Dowd, who died Wednesday morning at the hospital in Iowa City. Father Richard McDermott, a brother of the deceased, sang the requiem high mass.

Lawrence had been in the hospital at Iowa City for three weeks, receiving treatment for heart trouble and complications.

Lawrence Dowd was born in Eagle Grove on March 19, 1896. He attended Sacred Heart school and graduated with the class of 1917. He worked in Maywood and Chicago, Ill., for a number of years, until his health failed. He then went to Fort Dodge to make his home with his mother, Mrs. W. J. McDermott.

Mr. Dowd is survived by his mother, Mrs. W. J . McDermott, one sister, Mrs. B. H. Thompson of Ft. Dodge, two brothers, John Dowd of Templeton and Frank Dowd of Mandan, N. D., one niece Shirley Thompson of Ft. Dodge, three step brothers and three step sisters, the Rev. Terrence McDermott of New York City, the Rev. Richard McDermott, and the Rev. John McDermott of Chicago, Mrs. Katherine Knowles of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Mary Reinhardt and Mrs. Harry Miller of Kansas City, Mo.

Burial was made in Calvary cemetery beside his father and brother. Pall bearers were John Henneberry, Fred Lalor, John Reider, Melvin Lalor, Gordon Merrill and Henry Keppers.

Those present from out-of-town for the funeral were: Mrs. W. J. McDermott, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Thompson, Mrs. Ida Rule and Charles Rule of Ft. Dodge, Rev. Father Richard McDermott of Chicago, Mrs. Katherine Knowles of Cedar Rapids.
