AMES, IA. – A memorial service for Frances Elizabeth Ross Stober, 72, of Ames, who died of cancer Saturday at home, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stevens Memorial Chapel. The body has been cremated.

Mrs. Stober was born in Parkersburg and had lived in Ames for 26 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Robert L. of Springfield, Va., Dan R. of Clinton, Ohio, and Richard J. of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Martha M. Garms of Des Moines; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Greeley Medical Center's Oncology Unit.

Burial in Greene for Frances Stober, 72

Memorial services were held at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames on Tuesday, February 24, 1987, for Frances Elizabeth Stober, 72, who died February 21 at her home at 1421 Carroll Avenue in Ames. Pastor Galen Peckham officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Stevens Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Frances Elizabeth Stober was born February 19, 1915, in Parkersburg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Ross.

Frances Ross Stober was raised in Clarion by Dan and Martha Leonard. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1932 and later married James L. Stober in l937. They resided in New Hampton from 1947-54, then in Clarion in 1954-1960. She resided in Ames since that time.

Mrs. Stober is survived by three sons: Robert L. Stober, Springfield, Virginia; Dan R. Stober, Clinton, Ohio; and Richard J. Stober, Austin, Texas; one daughter: Martha M. Garms, Des Moines; one sister-in-law: Maude E. Stober, Des Moines; eight grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Stober and one granddaughter Michelle J. Stober.

Memorials may be sent to the Oncology Department, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames.

Frances Elizabeth Stober died on February 21 at her home in Ames. A memorial service was held following cremation Tuesday, February 24, at 10 a.m., at the Stevens Memorial Chapel. Pastor Galen Peckham conducted the service.

Frances Elizabeth (Ross) Stober was born on February 19, 1915 to Roy L. Ross. Her mother's name was Bunah, she was raised in Clarion by Dan and Martha Leonard, graduating from Clarion High School in 1932. She married James L. Stober in 1937. They resided in New Hampton, la., from 1947 to 1954, before moving to Clarion where they lived until 1960. She has lived at 1421 Carroll Avenue in Ames since that time.

Mrs. Stober was preceded in death by her husband, James, and one granddaughter, Michelle J. Stober.

Survivors include three sons; Robert L. of Springfield, VA., Dan R. of Clinton, Oh., and Richard J. of Austin, Tx.; one daughter, Martha M. Garms of Des Moines; one sister-in-law, Maude E. Stober of Des Moines; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Oncology Department of Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
