AMES, IA. – Services for James L. Stober, 67, department head for secondary roads for the Iowa Department of Transportation, who died Monday at home, will be at 10 a.m. today at Stevens Memorial Chapel here. Mr. Stober also had been county engineer in Chickasaw and Butler counties. Survivors include his wife, three sons, a daughter, a brother, a sister and seven grandchildren.

Rites held for James L. Stober

Funeral services for James L. Stober were held Thurs., April 20 from Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames. The Rev. Cecil Wells, of the First United Methodist Church officiated with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Mr. Stober, 67, 1421 Carroll Ave., died at his home Mon., April 17.

He was born May 17, 1910 in Greene. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1933 in civil engineering. He worked as a county engineer for a number of years before joining the Iowa State Highway Commission in February, 1954 in the right-of-way department. Mr. Stober retired in May 1975.

Mr. Stober married Frances E. Ross Dec. 25, 1937 in Clarion.

He was a member of the Anson Marston Chapter of the Iowa Engineering Society & the American Right of Way Association. Mr. Stober also served as a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Right-of-Way Association.

Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Richard of Ames, Dan of Clinton, Ohio, & Robert of Frankfort, Germany; 1 daughter, Martha Garms of Des Moines; 1 brother, Frederick of St. Louis, Mo.; 1 sister, Maude Elizabeth Stober of Greene; & 7 grandchildren.

Funeral Services For James L. Stober

Funeral services for James L. Stober were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 1978 from Stevens Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Cecil Wells of the First United Methodist Church officiated with burial in the Greene, Iowa, Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Stober, 67, 1421 Carroll Ave., died at his home Monday, April 17, 1978.

He was born May 17, 1910 in Greene. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1933 in civil engineering. He worked as a county engineer for a number of years before joining the Iowa State Highway Commission in February 1954 in the right-of-way department. Mr. Stober retired in May 1975.

Mr. Stober married Frances E. Ross December 25, 1937 in Clarion. The James Stobers were Clarion residents from 1954 to 1960.

He was a member of the Anson Marston Chapter of the Iowa Engineering Society and the American Right of Way Association. Mr. Stober also served as a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Right-of-Way Association.
