Isabelle Elizabeth Mimnaugh Griffin
28 April 1865 --- 5 December 1921

Mrs. Thos. Griffin, nee Isabella Mimnaugh, was born near Montreal, Canada, on April 28th, 1865 and died at her home on North Lucas avenue in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on December 5th, 1921, about 7:30 P.M. At the time of her death she was 56 years, 7 months and 7 days old. Her parents moved to the United States when she was about five years old, settling at Dubuque, Iowa, where she lived until 1879, when her parents moved to LeMars, Iowa, at which place she grew to young womanhood, and where she met Thos. Griffin, to whom she was united in marriage on May 15, 1888. To this union four children were born: Leo, who died in 1916, Thos. I., Catherine and Phillip. In 1889 she moved to Lake City with her husband, returning to LeMars the following year. They entered the hotel business until 1897, when they moved to Eagle Grove, which place she has made her home.

Mrs. Griffin's pleasures on this worldly earth were few. For 24 years she cared for a crippled son, Leo,, never complaining but always with a smile. She was a woman who never bothered anybody with her troubles but bore them all herself. To those who knew her best she was a precious Jewel that will be hard to replace. She was one of God's noble women.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband in 1919 and son in 1916. Funeral services were conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic church by Father Nolan and Father Torpey of Clarion on Wednesday, December 7th, at 10:30 a. m. She was laid to rest beside her husband and son in Calvary cemetery. Besides her three children, two brothers survive, Mickeal Memmaugh of Jackson, Neb., and Phillip Memmaugh of Lewistown, Mont.

The pall bearers were L. A. Bolan, Thos. Shea, Harry Cooke, Frank Kubitschek, Frank Lynch and Wm. Wehrheim. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. Mickeal Memmaugh, Jackson, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Corrall; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Barrick, and Mrs. Wm. Fields, of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Nora Corcoran and Mrs. Earl Nickols and son of Des Moines, John Carroll of Duncombe, and Ed Donahue of Phillip, S. D.
