Thomas J. Donahue
26 November 1860 --- 12 Aug 1903

The sad news was heralded about town Wednesday that T. J. Donahue had passed away at his residence on North Cadwell avenue at 8:30. Thus we are called upon to chronicle the peaceful end of a good and useful life. He passed away surrounded by his family and his intimate friends and close within the arms of his wife.

The deceased was born in Sauk Co., Wisconsin, in the month of November, 1860, and died in Eagle Grove, Wednesday, August 12, 1903. The first nineteen years of his life were spent at home. In the spring of '79 he came to this city and entered the employment of the North-Western in the capacity of a fireman. Being a good, faithful workman, he was soon promoted and given an engine. He has been at the throttle for sixteen years. Last January the disease which finally laid him low made him give up his run and from that time on he grew steadily weaker and weaker.

On March 17, 1897 he was married to Miss Mary Brennan in South Dakota, To this happy union was born one son, Thomas, who is now four years of age. Mr. Donahue's parents still live. Their home is at Sheldon. He has four brothers and one sister; one brother, James, of Sheldon, being at his bedside at the time of his death.

Thomas J. Donahue was affiliated with the Catholic church. He was a member of the B. of L. E., K. of P. and Masons. Altho his demise was not unexpected, it came as a cruel blow upon his family and a large circle of acquaintances. The entire community extends its sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family in this their first hour of sorrow. The funeral has been announced for Friday morning at nine o'clock at the Sacred Heart church. Interment to be made in the Gethsemane cemetery.
