Death of John Jacob Adams.

John Jacob Adams, 69 years old, a retired farmer, died at his home on the Spring Branch road, three miles east of Independence, last night. He had been ill a week with influenza.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie Adams, a son, Granville Adams of Clarion, Ia., and a daughter, Mrs. Grace Young, who lives in California. Funeral services will be in Clarion.

J. J. Adams son of G. W. and Sarah Adams was born in Green Countv, Wis., Sept. 29, 1853. He was the youngest of a family of nine children of whom only two survive him. Mrs. Rachael Allen of Evansville, Wis. and Mrs. Addie Cleveland of Goldfield, Iowa. About forty years ago he married Miss Mary Munger of Broadhead, Wis. They immediately came to Wright county and settled on a farm near Clarion, where they lived until the death of Mrs. Adams in 1906. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Grace Young and Granville Adams, both of Clarion, but neither was present at the funeral as Mrs.Young is in California for the winter and Mr. Adams is confined to his bed with grippe. On Jan.12,1915 he married Miss Jennie Weaver of Williamsport, Pa. About three years ago they moved to Kansas City, Mo. and about a year ago to Independence, Mo., where Mr. Adams died with flu on Jan. 30, 1923, at the age of 69 years. The remains were brought to Clarion and taken to the Frank Nelson home and on Friday afternoon the funeral was held at the Nelson home. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery under the auspices of Cyrene Lodge A F & A M. Dr. J. D. Kirkpatrick and Harry Castate of Broadhead, Wis., were in attendance at the funeral.

GOLDFIELD

A number of the relatives in and near Goldfield attended the funeral last Friday afternoon at Clarion of Mr. J. J. Adams, one of the early residents of this county. He was an uncle of Messrs. Chas., Arthur and Walter Cleveland of this locality.
