MARLENE MARIE CLAUDE
Marlene Marie Thompson was born on a farm northwest of Clarion on June 14, 1940, to Burton and Elsie Streitilmier Thompson. She was baptized in the Holmes Lutheran Church. She attended Holmes school until moving with her parents to a farm southwest of Radcliffe in 1950, where she attended a country school. In the fall of 1950, Marlene started school at Radcliffe, where she graduated in 1958. She was united in marriage to Clayton Claude of Goldfield on June 29, 1961, at Radcliffe. The couple has made their home in Goldfield since their marriage. For the past 14 years, Marlene was employed by the Goldfield school system as a cook, and more recently, as the head cook. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Radcliffe.

Marlene Claude died Thursday, November 23, 1989, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, in Ames, of cancer at the age of 49 years, five months, and nine days. She is survived by her parents, Roland; her husband, Clayton; sons, Gerald, Ft. Bliss, Texas; and Kelvin, Goldfield; a brother, Charles Thompson, Ames; her sister, Caroline Swenson, rural Story City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 25, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Victor V. Victoria, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield, officiated, with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
