Marie S. Anderson, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Hilpipre) Mourlam, was born on October 3, 1923, in Woolstock Township. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and attended Clarion High School. Marie was united in marriage with Carlyle B. "Curley" Anderson on August 25, 1940, in Bethany, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2002. Marie was a resident of Eagle Grove for 58 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Marie worked for Brown's Grocery as a cashier and clerk for 25 years.

Survivors include her son, Michael K. Anderson, and his wife, Roberta H. of New Hope, Minn.; grandson, Jeffrey D. Anderson of Golden Valley, Minn.; sister, Vera Claude of Eagle Grove; brother, Clifford Mourlam and wife, Marie, of Clear Lake; and sister-in-law, Mildred Mourlam, of Clarion.

Marie died on Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion, at the age of 79 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carlyle; sisters, Ada Wilcox and Lela Wilson; and brother, George "Bud" Mourlam.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 5, 3 p.m., at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle
Grove., Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
