Mrs. Doty Passes

Mrs. Jane Doty died at her home six miles southwest of Goldfield Tuesday night, aged 84 years. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon. Services at the home at 2:00 p. m. and at the M. E. church at 2:30 p. m.

Mrs. Jane VanHorn Doty was born March 7, 1837 and moved with her parents to Cedar County, Iowa, when but seven years old.

She was united in marriage to Jacob L. Doty August 18, 1855. Mr. Doty was called home twenty-nine years ago. To this union was born twelve children, seven of whom preceded Mrs. Doty to the great beyond. Those left to mourn her loss are W. A. of Port Angeles, Wash.; E. E. of Edmonds, Wash.; Mrs. John Anderson, Hardy, Iowa; Mrs. John VanHorn, Renwick, Iowa; Levi L. of Birchwood, Wisconsin. In addition to the above children there are twenty-eight grand children and fifty-five great grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Doty moved from Cedar County to their present homestead, south of Goldfield, fifty-one years ago.

She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mrs. Doty was a pioneer and could relate many interesting experiences of the early days.

Mrs. Jane VanHorn Doty

Mrs. Jane VanHorn Doty died at her home northwest of Eagle Grove Tuesday, May 18, 1920, at the age of 84 years. Funeral services were held at the home and at the M. E. church in Goldfield last Friday afternoon.

Jane VanHorn was united in marriage to Jacob L. Doty and to this union was born twelve children, several of whom preceded Mrs. Doty to the great beyond. Those who survive to mourn her loss are W. A. of Port Angeles, Wash.; E. E. of Edmonds, Wash.; Mrs. John Anderson of Hardy, Iowa; Mrs. John VanHorn of Renwick, Iowa, Levi L. of Birchwood, Wis. There are twenty-eight grand children and fifty-five great grand children. Her husband died twenty-nine years ago.

Mrs. Doty was one of Wright county’s oldest pioneers, having moved with her husband to her present home fifty-one years ago.
