JOE MCCOMBER DIES AFTER OPERATION

Taken Sick Suddenly Last Friday While at Work in Cornfield. Operated for Ruptured Intestine.

Joe McComber, Jr., 43, died at the Lutheran hospital at Fort Dodge on Wednesday morning. Last week Friday he was taken ill while working in the corn field and was taken home and a doctor summoned. His trouble was diagnosed as a ruptured intestine and he was taken to the Lutheran hospital at Ft. Dodge where an operation was performed. But the result was not favorable and he passed away Wednesday forenoon.

Mr. McComber was born at Ayrshire, Iowa, on Oct. 30, 1889. He is survived by his wife and children, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McComber, one brother, William, and one sister, Mrs. Alfred Hansen.

Funeral arrangements were not complete late Wednesday evening when the Eagle went to press.

JOE McCOMBER DIES AT FORT DODGE WED.

Joe McComber, a young farmer of the Evergreen community, passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge early Wednesday morning. He was taken to the hospital Friday in a serious condition. An operation was performed to remove ulcers from the stomach, but he had waited too long and his condition was considered serious from the time of his operation until he passed away.

Joseph David McComber, son of J. D. and Lena McComber, was born at Ayrshire, Iowa, Oct. 30, 1889 and died at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Nov 2, 1932, after an illness of only a few days duration.

He came to Eagle Grove with his parents when about 14 years of age. Here he grew to manhood and undertook his task as a young farmer. He was united in marriage with Edith G. Strietlemeier of Eagle Grove on Dec. 8, 1917. To them were born two daughters, Mildred Mable, now 11, and Mae Gertrude, 3. He united with the Methodist church of Eagle Grove in 1908 during the pastorate of Rev. C. E. Chapler.

He had made his home in the vicinity of Eagle Grove all his life. Although of a quiet disposition, he has by his genial ways, made for himself a large circle of friends. He was a kind and devoted father and husband.

He leaves in his going, his beloved wife and daughters, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McComber of Eagle Grove, his brother, William McComber of Minneapolis, Minn., and his sister, Mrs. Alfred Hansen of Goldfield, Iowa and an adopted sister, Betty Jane McComber. Besides his immediate family he is survived by a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
