Marvin Cornelius Knutson, the son of Joseph and Sadie Wagner Knutson, was born on a farm in Lake Township, Humboldt County, Iowa, on June 17, 1908. When he was an infant, the family moved to a farm near Highview and later, they moved to the Eagle Grove area, where he received his early education. In 1916, the family moved to Wisconsin, where they lived for several years. In 1925, Marvin moved back to the Eagle Grove area and was employed on a farm south of town.

On September 6, 1933, he was united in marriage with Gladys Askelsen at Eagle Grove. After their marriage, the couple farmed north of Eagle Grove, then near Woolstock and later moved to a farm near Kanawha, where they lived until 1981, when they moved into Eagle Grove. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway.

He died on Sunday evening, Sept. 16, 1984, at the Belmond Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week. He attained the age of 76 years, two months and 29 days.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Askelsen Knutson of Eagle Grove; a sister, Grace, Mrs. Ted Chrischilles of Algona; two brothers, Richard Knutson of Eagle Grove and Milford Knutson of Washington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Katherine; and three brothers, Arthur, Kenneth and Eugene Knutson.

Funeral services for Marvin C. Knutson, 76, of Eagle Grove, were held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
