Obituary of Andrew Anderson

Andrew Emanuel Anderson was born April 20, 1862, In Bergen, Norway, to the parents, Martin and Marie Anderson, and died in his home at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Oct. 29th, 1933, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 9 days.

He came with his parents to the U. S. A. to Leland, Ill., in 1864, he then being 2 years old. A few years later the family moved to Story county, Iowa. This Journey was made in the early immigrant manner, the covered wagon.

He was baptized in Infancy, received instruction and confessed his christian faith In the Sheldahl Lutheran church, Story county.

When he was about 21 years of age, his father having passed away from this life, he, together with his mother and two brothers, Fred and John, came to the vicinity of Eagle Grove, where he has since lived.

In 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Thompson Stockdale, who now survives him. Ten children were born to this union, three died in infancy and seven remain living. They are: Manville, of Minneapolis, Minn., Thomas of Goldfield, Sanford of Renwick, Willie of Klemme, Edward of Britt, Mrs. Emma Shillington of Clarion, and Mrs. Mabel Stromquist also of Clarion. These, together with his dear wife now mourn his departure. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and by one brother, J. O. Anderson of Holmes.

About fourteen years ago he retired from active farm life, moving to Eagle Grove. The last few years his health has gradually failed, until he quietly slipped away last Sunday evening.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church at 2 o’clock.
