Minnie Estella Paine Hallock, wife of Henry Bert Hallock, was born Oct. 26, 1871, In Kossuth county near Burt, Iowa.

She was married to Mr. Hallock May 22, 1890 and began housekeeping in Algona, removing to Eagle Grove at the beginning of 1900, where he became partner in the publication of the Eagle Grove Eagle and later owner and publisher of the Times-Gazette.

In the fall of 1924 they moved to Clarion where Mr. Hallock became county treasurer.

Mrs. Hallock was a faithful member of the Congregational church, the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the Brotherhood of American Yeomen.

During five of her last seven years she suffered ill health from the hardening of her arteries. For the last year and a half she did not know a well day, but often remarked that the preceeding three years were the happiest of her life. She passed, away most peacefully from an attack of apoplexy Sunday morning, Sept. 30, at 10:00 o’clock, just as the church bells were ringing.

Mrs. Hallock leaves to remember her faithful life and genuine affection besides her husband, two daughters and one son: Mrs. Ellen Cowan of Ree Hights, S. D., Eugene of Denver and Mrs. Arloine Pratt of Chicago. A son died in early infancy. Also two sisters and three brothers: Ernest E. Paine and Mrs. J. P. Stow both of Burt, Iowa, Mrs. Ora Tyndale of Carroll, Iowa, Frank D. Paine of Ames, Iowa, and Harry Paine of California; two brothers. George and Clarence preceeded her in death.

She was a devoted wife and mother, always sacrificing for her children and loved ones. She was ever the friend of the sick and needy.

While the Illness of her later years kept her from the busy activities of life, her middle years were filled with interest in the affairs of church, society and the community in which she lived.

Scripture and prayer at the funeral offered by Rev. Richard Haney of Webster City who was Mrs. Hallock's pastor for years in Eagle Grove. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Clarion, Wednesday. Oct. 3, and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
