H. B. Hallock, 66, county treasurer, died at his home in Clarion at 9 o'clock, Tuesday evening. He suffered a paralytic stroke early Tuesday morning. He died without regaining consciousness. His daughter, Mrs. Lynn Cowan, of Ree Heights, South Dakota, reached his bedside about half an hour before his death. His other daughter, Mrs. Ed. Pratt of Chicago arrived after her father had passed away. Eugene Hallock of Washington, D. C., is in a hospital, very seriously ill, too ill in fact to be informed of his father's death.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Congregational church. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove. The Masonic funeral service was given at the grave.

Mr. Hallock was born in Clayton county, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1865. When he grew to manhood he learned the printing trade in the Algona printing offices and later purchased the Bancroft Register which he published for one year. He then bought the Burt Monitor and soon established the Fenton Reporter. In 1900 he sold these newspapers and bought a half interest in the Eagle Grove Eagle. In 1909 he sold his interest in the Eagle and bought the Eagle Grove Times-Gazette, which he continued to publish until he sold it in December 1920. Two years later he was elected county treasurer and has served the people of Wright county faithfully and well in that office up to the time of his death.

In June 1892, he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Paine of Burt. To this union four children were born, three of whom are living. They are Mrs. Lynn Cowan, Ree Heights, South Dakota; Eugene of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Ed. Pratt of Chicago. Mrs. Hallock and son, Herbert, Jr., preceded him to the other world.

Mr. Hallock was a member and an earnest worker in the Congregational church. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge, Yeomen and Woodmen orders.
