Mrs. Ben Hagar Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Ben Hagar died Friday morning: at her home on North Lincoln Ave. following a lingering illness. She had been ill for many years and spent much time in hospitals for surgery and treatments.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs.. Robert L. Touchet of Milwaukee, Wis., Robert L. Hagar of Humboldt, Mrs. Irvin Rockow of Belmond and Benjamin R. Hagar of Osceola. Other survivors are 11 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ann Luckey of Racine, Wis., and four half-brothers and three half-sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church in charge of Rev. Roy Cox.

Interment was In Rose Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were T. L. Benedict, Sumner Paine, Moine Yanney, George Heard, Carl Sunner and John Dinnie.

Mrs. Laura Eva Hagar was born in Syracuse, Neb. Feb. 6, 1893 and died April 22nd. She was the daughter of Sherman Frederick Van Antwerp and Ann Hartman Van Antwerp.

Mrs. Hagar attended school at Blaine, Ill. and at Capron, Ill. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Hagar on Sept. 4, 1916. Their four children and her husband survive to mourn. The children are Mrs. Robert Touchet of Milwaukee, Wis.; Robert L. Hagar of Humboldt, Mrs. Irvin E. Rockow of Belmond; and Benjamin Hagar of Osceola. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Hagar was one of four children. A sister Mary and a brother Samuel preceded her in death. Her sister, Mrs. Ann Luckey of Racine, Wis., lives to mourn the loss of her sister, as well as four half-brothers and three half-sisters, they are: Randolph Van Antwerp; Ralph Van Antwerp and Frank Van Antwerp all of Sharon, Wis. and Frederick Van Antwerp of Beloit, Wis.; Mrs. Grace Torkelson of Clinton, Wis.; Mrs. Ruth Kreis of Janesville, Wis. and Mrs. Dorothy Lee of Capron, Ill.

Mrs. Hagar was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service. The Eastern Star, the White Shrine, the Garden Club and the Chicago and Northwestern Women's Club.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church in charge of Rev. Roy Cox. Interment was in Rose Hill, cemetery.
