Leon Vilmain Funeral Tuesday At Sacred Heart

Leon Vilmain, 87, who had been in failing health for some time, died late Saturday evening at his home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Sacred Heart church at 9:30 o'clock and Rev. Francis Phelan officiated at the requiem mass.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Vilmain is survived by his wife and eight children: Lucien of Perry; Raymond, Mrs. Amelia Salminen and Sister Mary Georgine of Chicago; Mrs. Mel Thompson, George and Richard of this city and Francis of Cedar Falls. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one sister who lives in France.

Mr. Vilmain was a former employee of the Chicago and North Western R.R. and was later custodian of the property of the Sacred Heart church and school for 21 years, resigning when his health began to fail.

Mr. Vilmain was born in 1875 at Petite Roan, France, where he married Josephine Lejal in 1900. He spent three years in the French military service and came to America in 1902. Mr. and Mrs. Vilmain spent their first few years in the United States in Lisbon, N.D. and then moved to Clarion. They came to Eagle Grove in 1909 and their home has been here since that time.
