Mrs. Leon Vilmain Funeral Tuesday At Sacred Heart

Mrs. Leon Vilmain who would have been 86 years of age on June 3rd, died Saturday evening at her home 421 SE 4th St. She had been ill for some time and her death was not unexpected.

Mrs. Valmain is survived by eight children, Lucian of Perry, Raymond of Stevens Point, Wis.; George and Richard of Eagle Grove; Francis of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Wm. Salminen, Chicago, Mrs. Melford Thompson, Eagle Grove and sister Mary Georgine of Chicago. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one sister Jeanne Vilmain of Freeport, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart church with Rev. Francis Phelan celebrant of the requiem mass. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary service was held Monday evening at 8 o’clock at the Kastler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vilmain was born June 3, 1879, in Petit Roan, France.

In 1900 she was married to Leon Vilmain and the following year they came to the United States and settled in Lisbon, N. D. where they farmed until moving to Eagle Grove 55 years ago. Mr. Vilmain died in 1963.

Mrs. Vilmain was tertiary member of the Third Order of St. Dominic and had chosen the name of Sister Mary Josephine. She was also an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary of Sacred Heart parish.
