Richard Vilmain

Richard Vilmain, 87, of Eagle Grove, died on Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. A Parish Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Richard Vilmain

Richard Vilmain, 87, of Eagle Grove, died on Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Eagle Grove; three children, Thomas Vilmain and wife Brenda of Ames, Jerry Vilmain and wife Dar of Chaska, MN. and Jacque Vilmain of Austin, TX; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Luden, Raymond, and Francis; and three sisters, Louise, Amelia and Sister Georgine.

Richard J. Vilmain, the son of Leon and Josephine (LeJaul) Vilmain, was born December 28, 1918, in Eagle Grove. Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, attending catholic schools and graduating from Eagle Grove High School. Rich also attended Iowa Central Community College graduating in 1949. Rich was employed by Zenith Radio in Chicago prior to joining the United States Army during WWII with the Signal Corp Branch from 1941-1946 where he served in the European Theatre.

On February 5, 1948, Richard was united in marriage with Wilma Fryslie at Eagle Grove. Following his marriage, he operated his own business as a radio and television technician, serving Eagle Grove and surrounding areas for the past 50 years.

Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he received his Holy Baptism, communion and confirmation. He was also a member of the V.F.W and senior citizens center. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
