Marvin Umstead Died Suddenly

Marvin Kenneth Umstead, oldest son of Raymond and Katherine Umstead, was born in Eagle Grove, Wright county, Iowa, April 25, 1918 and died at the home of his parents in Eagle Grove, Friday, evening, April 6, 1934, after only two days Illness. He was at the time of his death, 15 years, 11 months and 9 days old.

Marvin was a sophomore in the Eagle Grove high school and was highly respected by his classmates and many friends. He was kind and thoughtful of others and gave promise of being a good and useful man.

He was baptized in the, Methodist church on August 4, 1921 and was received into full membership on April 20, 1930. He was a faithful boy in all his duties and obligations and always enjoyed attending church and Sunday School.

His sudden passing at this early age has left his dear ones overcome with grief and cast a cloud of gloom over the entire circle of his acquaintances.

He is survived by his father and mother and two sisters and one brother: Lucille, Viola June and Melvin all at home wlth their parents.

Poem

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon on the lawn of the family home at 4:30. The officiating minister was Marvin's pastor, the Rev. W. L. Breaw, pastor of the Methodist church. He was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.
