Nora Vorland was born on July 28, 1895, in Humboldt County, Iowa to Nels and Gurrina Vorland. She was baptized into the triune faith on August 18,1895 at the Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church of Humboldt County. On June 26, 1910 she renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at Norway Lutheran Church, Rev. A. E. Distad officiating. She died at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove after reaching the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

Nora attended school in Humboldt County. She stayed at home with her family during her youth and helped the members of her family whenever called upon. On Feb. 18, 1917 she was united in marriage to Nels Thompson in Eagle Grove, Pastor Spande officiating. They lived in Hancock County for two years and then on a farm in Wright County until 1952 at which time they moved into the town of Eagle Grove. On April 19, 1971 they moved to Rotary Ann Home.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nels, who passed away on May 31 of this year; one daughter, Anna Thelma; two brothers, Andrew and Helge; three sisters, Elizabeth, Helen and Hannah. Those who mourn her departure are four sons, Thealburn of Renwick, Gaylord, Eagle Grove; Stanley, Eagle Grove and Duane, Eagle Grove; one daughter, Ja Nell (Mrs. Howard Hilleman), State Center; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
