Page 9, Column 1Pioneer Belmond Merchant Dies
BELMOND—Funeral services for Charles C. McGuire, 82, were held on Friday morning at 9:30 at St. Francis church. Mr. McGuire, a pioneer merchant, conducted the clothing business here for 52 years. It was the oldest business in Belmond when on Jan. 1, 1946, just six years prior to his death, he went out of business, ownership of the store being taken over by A. F. Thompsen, present operator of the business.
The deceased passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. L. Leslie at Waverly on Jan. 1. He had been in poor health since September. Rev. R. A. Ormsby officiated at the funeral services and Fulton funeral home was in charge.
Burial was made in St Francis cemetery near Belmond. His wife preceded him in death in 1950 and since that time he had made his home with one of his three daughters, Laurette, Mrs. H. L Leslie of Waverly; Zola, Mrs. J. Boylan of Watertown, Minn., and Ursallne, Mrs. Don Grillo of South Bend, Ind. Two sons, Cyril and Harold preceded him in death.
