BELMOND Mildred D. McLaughlin, 74, of Belmond, died Monday (Jan. 23. 1989) at Belmond Community Hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. The Rev. John Karal will officiate with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Belmond.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Hancock County. She graduated from Klemme High School.
On Jan. 2, 193G, she was married to Vernon F. McLaughlin. They farmed in rural Belmond where she lived until her death.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, ACCW, Progress Club, Neighborhood Club and St. Elizabeth Study Club. She served as director of Equal Opportunities in Clarion and was a member of the Wright County Election Board.
Visitation will be after noon today at Tenold Funeral Home in Belmond, with a 2:30 p.m. rosary by the CDA and Rosary Society. There will also be a Scripture service at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon V. Sr.; one daughter, Barbara A. McLaughlin, Belmond; three sons, Vernon V. Jr. and Paul A., both of Belmond, and Richard D. of Adrian, Mich.: one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Hefte, Britt; two brothers, Marvin Lemke, Des Moines, and Donald Lemke, Klemme; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for Mildred McLaughlin, 74, who died January 23 at Belmond Community Hospital. Rev. John Karal will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery. Tenold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mildred, the daughter of Henry F. and Daisy Greiman Lemke, was born August 25, 1914 in Hancock County. She grew up in the Klemme area and graduated from Klemme High School. She married Vernon V. McLaughlin on January 2, 1936. They farmed in the Belmond area and continued to live on the farm after retirement.
Mildred taught CCD for over 40 years, was a member of the Rosary Society, CDA, ACCW, Progress Club, Neighborhood Club, St. Elizabeth Study Club, was director of Equal Opportunities in Clarion and member of the Wright County Election Board.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two great grandchildren and one brother.
Surviving are her husband, Vernon; three sons, Vernon, Jr., of Belmond, Richard of Adrian, MI, and Paul of Belmond; one daughter, Barbara of Belmond; nine grandchildren; two brothers Marvin Lemke of Des Moines and Donald Lemke of Klemme; and one sister, Marjorie Hefte of Britt.
Casket bearers are Michael McLaughlin, Jerry McLaughlin, Ed Hocraffer, Stephen McLaughlin, Alfred McLaughlin and Tom Middleton.
Honorary bearers are James T. McLaughlin, Robert McLaughlin, Jack McLaughlin, Marvin Lemke, James P. McLaughlin, Larry McLaughlin, Ed McLaughlin and Donald Lemke.
