Joe Oltmann

Funeral services for Joe Oltmann were held from the Zion Reformed Church in Sheffield on Tuesday, February 3rd at 11 a.m. with Rev. Edward Jurgens officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Oltmann died Saturday, January 31st at the Franklin General Hospital Extended Care Unit in Hampton. The Willim Funeral Home in Latimer was in charge of arrangements.

He was born January 23, 1891 in Germany and was the son of Herman and Anna Boehman Oltmann. He came to the United States in 1904 and resided in Franklin County where he has farmed up until his retirement to Coulter in 1959. He was united in marriage to Freda Grulke January 24, 1917 at the Marion Center Parsonage. He was a member of the Zion Reformed Church and was active both as a superintendent and school teacher. He was also a past church board member.

Survivors include his wife Freda, one son William of Latimer, two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Parke of Alexander, Mrs. August (Mildred) Schaefer of Latimer, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Marie Colby of Springfield, Missouri, Ann Oltmann and Mrs. Helen Rowe both of Hampton.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and two grandchildren.
