Calvin C. Umstead, Scottsdale Arizona, passed away May 23, 2000. He was born July 2, 1924 in Crosswicks, New Jersey. He served the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a farmer in Iowa for 15 years before moving to Arizona in 1960. He worked for Pacific Motor Trucking for 20 years. In his retirement years, he became an avid cyclist and rode his bicycle across the country twice.

He is survived by two brothers, Albert Umstead & Richard Umstead; three sisters, Ethel Struceberry, Emily Borden, and Edna Marshall: two daughters, B. J. Umstead and Donna Umstead; two sons, Bruce Umstead and Barry Umstead; and four grandchildren, Marty Joost, David Umstead, Ben Umstead, and Kenny Umstead.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27th at 5:00 p.m. at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

CALVIN UMSTEAD

Calvin C. Umstead was born July 2, 1924, in Crosswicks, New Jersey. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He farmed near Eagle Grove for 15 years before moving to Arizona in 1960. Cal worked for Pacific Motor Trucking for 20 years. In his retirement years, he became an avid cyclist and rode his bicycle across the country twice. He died May 23, 2000 at the age of 75.

He is survived by two daughters, B. J. Umstead, and Donna Umstead; two sons, Bruce Umstead and Barry Umstead; four grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Umstead and Richard Umstead; and three sisters, Ethel Struceberry, Emily Borden, and Edna Marshall.

A memorial service was held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
