Curtis Spangler funeral Monday

Funeral services for Curtis Matt Spangler, 32, were held Monday afternoon at the United Church of Christ.

The Rev. Marvin Berkeland, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Spangler died Friday, Feb. 4, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, following an illness of several years duration.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anita Nelson, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Spangler, five brothers: Ronald, Fred, Alvin, Eagle Grove; Carroll of Dayton; Melvin of Denver, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. Richard Cutalo of Toms River, N.J.

He was formerly employed as serviceman at the Farmer's Cooperative Co. Station and was a member of the Iowa National Guard.

Curtis Matt Spangler, the son of Carroll and Edith Peterson Spangler, Sr., was born February 25. 1944 at Eagle Grove, Iowa.

He attended school at Eagle Grove and graduated from the Eagle Grove Junior College in 1966. On July 27, 1969 he married Anita Nelson at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. He worked as a serviceman at the Farmer's Cooperative Gas Station, Eagle Grove.

Curt died Friday, Feb. 4,1977, at the University Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness at the age of 32 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Survivors include his wife; his parents, Carroll and Edith Spangler, Sr., Eagle Grove; five brothers: Ronald Spangler, Eagle Grove; Carroll Spangler, Jr., Dayton; Melvin Spangler, Denver, Colo.; Fred Spangler, Eagle Grove; Alvin Spangler, Eagle Grove; and a sister, Marion (Mrs. Richard) Cutalo, Toms River, New Jersey.

Curt was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a member of the Iowa National Guard.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 7, 1977 at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. Rev. Marvin Berkeland of the Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
