MR. A. K. PICKERING

Mr. A. K. Pickering died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Gross, Thursday, March 25th at 11 p.m. The funeral was held at the Methodist church last Monday, Rev. C. E. Chapler officiating.

Amaziah Kilton Pickering was born July 28, 1832, in Richmond, New Hampshire.

His early life was spent in Sharon, Mass. where he was engaged in the manufacture of boots and shoes but his health failing, he was compelled to quit his trade.

In October 1856, he was married to Miss Harriet J. Greenleaf of Shannon, Mass. A few years after they moved to Cascade, Iowa, where they resided for two years, he working at the mason’s trade with his brother. March 1861, they moved to Wright County Iowa onto the farm now owned by W. H. Gowan where they resided for three years, after which they bought the farm now owned by O. O. Schweck, and at which place he resided until the fall of 1899.

Mrs. Pickering died August 7, 1898. One year later Mr. Pickering and daughter moved to Eagle Grove where he made his home until March, 1905, when he went to live with his daughter who is now the wife of Charles Gross, at which place occurred his death March 25, 1909.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Pickering, Clarence who died at the age of nine years, also Byron E. of Bismarck, N. Dak., Howard A. of Clarion, Ia., and Mrs. Charles Gross of this city.
