Mrs. Katherine McDonald died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katherine Crane, in this city Wednesday, March 24th. Mrs. McDonald had been afflicted with heart trouble since last October and the end, while not expected, came as a shock to her children and the community. She had made many friends in Eagle Grove although she had been living here only since last September.
Father Murray of Clarion conducted the funeral ceremony in the absence of Father O’Brien who was not in the city. The interment was in the cemetery at Nevada.
Katherine Ward was born May 14, 1832, in the city of Limerick, in Limerick county, on the Shannon river, Ireland. She was married at Palmyra, New York, and nine children were born to this union, six boys and three girls. Four boys, John of Portland, Oregon, Frank of Seattle, Daniel of St. Charles, Ill, William of Bagley, Ia., and Mrs. Katherine Crane of this city survive. All attended the funeral except Frank.
Mrs. McDonald was a very devoted member of the Catholic church all her life and the friends and neighbors of the sorrowing extend sympathy during their bereavement.
CARD OF THANKS
The undersigned wish to thank their many friends and neighbors who so kindly aided them in their recent affliction.
Mrs. Katherine Crane and daughters.
