GARY D PICKERING

Gary Douglas Pickering, was born September 28, 1947, to Clive L. and Marvel Daisy Jacques Pickering in Windom, Minn. He moved from Minnesota to Sibley, Iowa, where he attended school but graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, Iowa. On June 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Joanne Hensch in Sibley, Iowa. He began working for the Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove. He served his country from 1968 to 1970 in the Army during the Vietnam War. After the war, he moved back to Eagle Grove and began working for Umthun Trucking again until 1993. He was working for Oberg Freight Company at the time of his death.

Gary Douglas Pickering died Monday, November 13, 2000, at Cameron Community Hospital in Cameron, Mo., at the age of 53.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery Pickering, and wife, Tasha, Harcourt, Iowa, and Chad Pickering, and wife, Misty, Eagle Grove; two daughter, Stacy Halgrim, and husband, Ted, Eagle Grove, and Kimberly Mohr, Eagle Grove; five grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis Pickering, and wife, Diane, Sanger, Calif., David Pickering and wife, Maria, Eagle Grove, and Perry Pickering, and wife, Dee, Eagle Grove; three sisters, Caren Wills, Sibley, Iowa, Connie Schoo and husband, Leo, Eagle Grove, and Carmen Glasson, Sanford, N. C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Conrad.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 17, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend William Ballard officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

William Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
