Martin Ulstad, son of Nils and Bertha Ulstad, was born March 1, 1879 at LaSalle County, Ill. He came to Wright county when he was a young boy and was confirmed at Holmes Evangelical Lutheran church. He passed away Tuesday, December 16, 1958 at 12:30 p. m.

January 7, 1903 he was united in marriage to Julia Larson. They lived in the Holmes community for a number of years. Due to his wife’s illness he later moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he lived since.

Mr. Ulstad was preceded in death by his wife, September 23, 1948, one daughter Violet, three brothers Nels, Jacob and Samuel and one sister Sarah, Mrs. Thomas Weland.

He is survived by one son Orville, Bricelyn, Minnesota, three daughters Irene, Mrs. Clifford Carlson, Gaylord, Minnesota, Marjorie, Mrs. Newell Warland and Ruth, Mrs. James Johnson, both of Eagle Grove, Iowa; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one brother Oscar.

Casket bearers at the last rites were Leonard Helgevold, Clifford Ulstad, Floyd Brauman, Raymond Ulstad, Norris Ulstad and Ralph Young.

Funeral services were held from Sacquety Funeral Chapel, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Friday, December 19, 1958 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Interment was made at Holmes Lutheran cemetery.
