April 5, 1893 --- August 15, 1967

Paul Davis Paine, 74, 243 Dixon Ave., died at his home Wednesday evening. Mr. Paine was born April 5, 1893, on a ranch near Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended Ames Agricultural School in Ames, Iowa, and the University of Minnesota. He taught high school in Minneapolis for 29 years, retiring in 1955. He and his wife, Helen, moved to Palm Springs, Calif., where they resided since. They came to Missoula to make their home during the summer months. Mr. Paine was a veteran of World Wars I and II. During World War II, he served four years as a major in the CBI Theater with the 14th Air Force. He was a member of the Congregational Church; St. Lawrence Lodge 39, AF & AM, of Miller, S.D.; the Minneapolis Consistory of the Scottish Rite and the Zuhrab Shrine Temple of Minneapolis.

Survivors include his widow, Palm Springs; one son, Thomas, Minneapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Phillis) Andrews, Bloomington, Minn.; two brothers, Roger H., Ree Heights, S.D., and Morris L., Palm Springs; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Hansen, Goldfield, Iowa, and two grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the Squire-Simmons-Carr Rose Chapel until noon Friday when it will be sent to Eagle Grove, Iowa, for services and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
