Penfield Funeral Wednesday
Services Held At Local Church For Nonagenerian

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Church of Christ for Mrs. John H. Penfield, 91, widow of a Civil war veteran. Mrs. Penfield died Sunday evening as the result of a fall that she suffered two weeks ago. The Rev. Bruce B. Matthews was in charge of the services, and the pallbearers included Harding Thomas, Raymond Thorpe, E. J. Bloxham, Laurence Henriksen, Frank Mechem and F. C. Brinkman. Mrs. Penfield had been active until shortly before her death, and she had done a great deal of sewing for the Red Cross. She is survived by three sons L. O. Penfield of Clarion, Byron Penfield of Lemon, S. D. and Glen Penfield of Breckenridge, Minn. A brother, Lute Ingham of Whitten, also survives.

MARY JANE PENFIELD
Mary Jane Ingham was born April 11, 1850 near Brighton, Washington county. She died Nov. 23, 1941 at Clarion at the age of 91 years, seven months and 12 days. At an early age she moved to Grundy county with her parents. There she grew to womanhood. April 18, 1871 she was married to John Penfield. To this union six sons were born. Mr. Penfield and three sons preceded Mrs. Penfield in death. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, Byron of Lemmon, S.D., Glenn of Breckenridge, Minn., and Lute of Clarion; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. One brother, Lute Ingham of Whitten, also survives. Mrs. Penfield was a charter member of the Church of Christ and also of the Women's Relief corps.

Mr. and Mrs. Penfield came to Wright county in 1881, later moving to Clarion. She was active in Red Cross sewing and knitting. Most recently she had been piecing baby quilts for the local chapter.
