Floyd Stanley Gregory, the son of Homer and Minnie Anderson Gregory, was born Sept. 26, 1914, at Stratford, Iowa. As a small child he moved with his parents to LuVerne, Iowa, where he grew up and graduated from the LuVerne High School. He was very active in sports during high school, and was an especially good wrestler. He was united in marriage to Florence Johnson on June 2, 1934, at Algona. The couple farmed near LuVerne until 1942, when they moved to Algona, where he was employed as an auto mechanic for five years. Then they moved to Whittemore, Iowa, where they farmed for ten years. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1959, and Floyd worked as a carpenter, until retiring in 1976.

Mr. Gregory had been in poor health for the past year, and died at his home Monday afternoon, Dec. 13 at the age of 68 years, two months and 17 days.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Wilson of Humboldt; a son, Keith Gregory, Wilton, Iowa; six daughters; Sharon, Mrs. Maynard Dearchs, Eagle Grove; Judy Caquelin, Humboldt; Jolene, Mrs. Charles Kaufman, Eagle Grove; Sandra Thurmond, Humboldt; Sue Cameron, Humboldt; Debra, Mrs. Jim Williamson, Webster City; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his step-mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Gregory, Algona; three sisters, Dorothy, Mrs. John Dunn, Claremont, Calif.; Virginia, Mrs. Joe Miller, Grand Meadow, Mn.; Charlene Friederes, Fremont, Neb.; a stepsister, Mrs. Larry Cummings, living in Missouri; a step-brother, Orland Steil of Algona, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Floyd was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 16,1982 at 1 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Callen officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
