Andrew A. Rolland was born at Arne, near Bergen Norway, April 7, 1874. He received the Christian Baptism, was taught the way of salvation in Jesus Christ, and confessed his Christian faith at the age of 15 years. In 1892 he came to West Bend, Iowa, where he worked until in 1898 when he came to Eagle Grove, where he was employed by the C.& N.W.R.R. until 1900. Then he went to Norway where he was united in marriage to Miss Petra Andrea Kvamme on April 27, 1901.

Mr. and Mrs. Rolland came to Eagle Grove to live where he was employed again by the C. & N.W.R.R. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland were active members of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Mrs. Rolland died December 16, 1943.

He is survived by three children Mabel, Mrs. Carl Baker, Eagle Grove; Arthur Rolland, Rockford, Ill.; and Burdette Rolland of Eagle Grove. Also by 6 grandchildren and by 7 great grandchildren.

Andrew was a quiet peace loving man, friendly and faithful. He was ill for some time, and died at the Lutheran hospital, Sunday, August 8 at the age of 80 years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday August 11. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
