Alfred Frederick Guggisberg, the son of John and Anna Flickenger . Guggisberg, was born on May 5, 1902 in Paris, France, He died at the Clarion Care Center in Clarion early Tuesday morning, June 17, 1980, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 2 days. He came to the United States in 1907, and settled in the Vincent, Wright County area. He grew up and received his education at Vincent. On October 31, 1932, he was united in marriage with Almeda Foster at Vincent. They were later divorced. Alfred farmed near Vincent until 1965 when he retired and moved to Eagle Grove. He had been a resident of the Clarion Care Center for the past year. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. He is survived by a daughter, Linda, Mrs. Gordon Krueger of Max, N.D.; three sons: Jimmie and his wife, LaDonna Guggisberg of Eagle Grove; Robert and his wife, Jan Guggisberg of Belle Plaine, Minn.; Edward Kalabza, who lives in North Dakota; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Alfred F. Guggisberg were held at the Kastler Babcock Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon, June 19,1980 at 2 p.m. Rev. Donald Callen, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the funeral home.
