Alfred C. Hansen was born August 23, 1888, the son of Andrew and Carolyn Nelson Hansen, at the family farm near Goldfield. He was born, raised, and lived his life on the same farm. He received his education in the country school near their home. He was united in marriage to Mabel L. McComber of Eagle Grove, on October 15, 1915, at her parents' home. The couple farmed the family farm all of their married life. Mabel died in 1985. Alfred had recently been awarded his Centarian Bronze medal by the United Methodist Church of Goldfield. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Goldfield, and the Evergreen Sporting Association. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman.

Alfred Hansen died at his home on August 27, 1988, at the age of 100 years and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Magnus, Fred, Hans, and infant brothers, Hans and Alva. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held August 29 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield with the Rev. Peterson officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
