Warren F. Willert, the son of Herman and Bertha C. Garnetz [Garnatz] Willert, was born on Jan. 27, 1899, at Auburn, Iowa. The Willert family lived at Lamoni, Iowa for a few years and when Warren was a small boy, they moved to a farm north of Holmes, where he grew up and attended the area schools. In 1919, the family moved to a farm south of Eagle Grove. On Feb. 24, 1937, he was united in marriage with Verla Hoadley at Webster City. The couple lived and farmed south of Eagle Grove until 1947, when they moved to Eagle Grove. He operated the D-X Service Station for a few years and then was employed by Wilson and Company. Later, he worked part-time for the City of Eagle Grove. For the past several months, he had been in poor health and in December, 1982, he entered the Kanawha Nursing Home, where he died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 5. 1983, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 18 days.

He is survived by his wife, Verla of Eagle Grove; a niece, Iris and her husband, Dr. Joseph Sage of Farmington, Mo.; a nephew. W. L. McBride and his wife, Sadie McBride of Lakeside, Calif.; several great-nieces and nephews, Becky Moyers and her husband, Bill Moyers of Farmington, Mo.; Christy Keenan and her husband, Dr. Mike Keenan of Tulsa, Okla.; Lori Sage of Kansas City, Mo.; Judy McBride Rapp and her husband, Walter Rapp of El Cajon, Calif.; Douglas Lyman of Des Moines; Craig Lyman of New York, N.Y.; Anne Amsberry of Stonelake, Wis.; Betty Vallen and her husband, Gary Vallen of Lacona, Iowa; two great-great-nephews, Matthew Tracy and Anthony Lyman and a great-great niece, Shelley Lyman and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, three sisters, Anna Willert, Ruby McBride, Emma Willert; a niece, Ione, Mrs. Wm. Lyman and a great niece, Kathy Sage.

Funeral services for Warren F. Willert, were held on Friday, Jan. 7, 1983, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Elder J. Charles Cackler, of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of Fort Dodge officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the funeral home.
