Miss Emma L. Willert, the daughter of Herman and Bertha C. Garnetz [Garnatz] Willert, was born on Jan. 6, 1895, at Auburn, Iowa. She attended school at Auburn and Lamoni, Iowa. In 1919, she moved with her family to Eagle Grove. Miss Willert was employed at the Grahams Store in Eagle Grove for 45 years. In 1978, she moved to Farmington, Mo. to be near her niece, Mrs. Iris Sage. Miss Willert died at Farmington on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 24, 1982, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 19 days.
She is survived by her brother, Warren and his wife Verla Willert of Eagle Grove; a niece, Iris and her husband, Dr. Joseph Sage of Farmington, Mo.; a nephew, W. L. McBride and his wife, Sadie of Lakeside, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; Becky Moyers and her husband, Bill Moyers of Tulsa, Okla.; Christy Keenan and her husband, Dr. Mike Keenan of Tulsa, Okla.; Lori Sage of Kansas City, Mo.; Judy McBride Rapp and her husband, Walter of El Cajon, Calif.; Pattie McBride Smith and her husband, Jack, of Lakeside, Calif.; Douglas Lyman of Des Moines; Craig Lyman of New York, N.Y.; Anne Amsberry of Stonelake, Wis.; Betty Vallen and her husband, Gary Vallen of Lacona, Iowa; great-great-nephews, Matthew Tracy and Anthony Lyman and a great-great niece, Shelley Lyman. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Anna Willert and Ruby McBride; a niece, Ione, Mrs. Wm. Lyman and a great-niece, Kathy Sage.
Funeral services for Miss Emma Willert were held on Wed., Sept. 1,1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Elder J.Charles Cackler, of the Church of the Latter Day Saints of Fort Dodge officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
